Betting Preview on England - soccer (02.01.) KO (-10)
    by Tipster FP

Over achieving Leicester City have been brilliant to watch all season and have won the hearts of many a football fan. Nobody would have predicted that they would be top of the table come Christmas Day, the majority of people would have predicted a position near or in the relegation zone. As it is, Claudio Ranieri and his team can be extremely proud of their achievements.

Leicester have picked up only one point from a possible six in their last two games which has led fans to worry that their are hitting a rough patch and that their brilliant season is at risk of tailing off. They have given up top spot to Arsenal and have Manchester City and Tottenham breathing down their necks in third and fourth respectively.

I actually do not agree that their form has dipped – a narrow 1-0 defeat away at Liverpool and a 0-0 draw at home to Manchester City is hardly terrible form and they put in two good performances. They may not have scored but Jamie Vardy and company came up against two good teams in Liverpool and City and only conceded one goal over the two games. What does concern me is that their mentality may have changed as a result of not winning games for the first time in quite a while. Leicester’s form has been based on confidence, and sticking to what works for them – keeping the same group of players playing in the same way in the same formation. Ranieri reacted to the Liverpool defeat by changing formation against City and a lot will depend on if ‘The Tinkerman’ will get back to his old habits and continue to tinker. I hope he restores the line up and way of playing that took them to the top of the table.

Jamie Vardy’s record goalscoring run started off away against Bournemouth where he hit the first of his incredible feat of scoring in eleven consecutive Premier League games and he will surely fancy himself to grab another. Leicester are actually unbeaten in their last five matches against Bournemouth and have won four of them.

Bournemouth have only lost one game on their last six, but that was last time out away at Arsenal which is a tough place to go. Their previous two away games had seen them beat both West Brom and Chelsea, and they also beat Manchester United at home in between. What is worrying for me is that despite this recent good run of form, Bournemouth only sit in 16th place in the Premier League table and are only three points above Newcastle in the relegation zone. They are certainly in danger of being dragged into a relegation battle.

Bournemouth are quite leaky away from home and have only kept one clean sheet in their last ten away matches. They also seem to lack a natural goalscorer – their top goalscorer so far this season is Wilson with just the five goals and he has not played since September. They also come up against a tough defence – Leicester have conceded just eight goals in their last ten league games.

Neither Leicester or Bournemouth have any new injury concerns. Jamie Vardy was doubtful with a virus but seems to have shaken it off to take his place in the squad.

If Leicester have retained their confidence after their last two results then I can see them disposing of Bournemouth to get back on track with three points. The odds on the Leicester win are brilliant – they are priced at even money, which for a team that are second in the league at the halfway point and have home advantage against a team down in 16th place is simply unmissable. Home win for me.

Good luck, and feel free to check out my personal site www.footypreviews.com for more tips and previews.
