    Last year’s champions Zenit have all their chance to defend their status as they host lowly Volga tonight. This is also the last game they play at home; therefore, they really can’t make any mistake. The leaders going to this match on the back of their 3-1 away win over Rostov last Sunday. That victory extends their unbeaten streak to 8 matches in all competitions. The result also keeps them on top with two points greater than CSKA Moskva.

    Volga, in contrast, have gone four matches without a win. The team is sitting near the other end of the spectrum with only 25 points collected so far. With only two matches remaining, Volga could see themselves relegated if they lost all of these matches.

    Zenit will win this one for sure. The question is not how they’re gonna win, but how many goals will they punish 13th placed Volga. Thrashing looks inevitable here. Zenit’s next champions league game is next Tuesday, so they have lots of time to prepare and don’t need to rest any players for this game. 3-0 to 5-0 win for Zenit would not surprise me.
