Despite being the opening game of the world cup i expect this to a very exciting game with both sides going for the win. Neither is great in defence so it should be an open game.

Mexico looked good in the warm up defeats against England and Holland. There is some wonderful footballers in their midfield and while it is maybe not be correct to read a lot into friendly games- it was obvious that Mexico have goals in their side.

They recovered well from a poor start in the qualifying group and ofcourse managed to get a win over Italy in a recent friendly. Hernandez will be the man to watch. The young striker has just won himself a dream move to Man Utd so it will be interesting to see how he does at these finals. Hes strong and powerful and sure to give the hosts problems.

South Africa obviously have the nation behind them and we know from previous world cups how much that plugs the gaps in quality. There is little doubt this side are going to fight hard for their nation and im sure none of the sides who drew them were delighted.

They have some form, good form, not lost since last Oct. Denmark were defeated in a recent friendly and although the standard of sides in other warm up games was not great- they are scoring a lot of goals and look full of confidence going forward.

I know these games can often be very tight with both sides scared to lose. But the form and the quality of either defence does not suggest a low scoring game. Either side has goals in their team but to be honest i have a feeling these are possibly 2 of the weakest defensive sides at the world cup. Thats why i back both teams in attack and go for both to score.
