    england can get off to a nice start by taking care of the usa in the opening group game.

    i think it is fair to say england are on the favs for this world cup. for the 1st time in a long time they have a top quality manager and their side is certainly packed with players of real class and quality. the only area there seems to be a worry is the keeper or the back 4 but if they cant sort that out they could go a very long way.

    usa are not one of the outsiders according to the bookies. i must admit from what i have seen of them recently i find that quite odd. their defence is really poor. possibly as poor as any side at this compeition. ofcourse they have a terrific goalkeeper in howard but i do expect him to be a very busy man tonight and all through this group stages.

    one thing the usa do have is plenty of pace in their front 3 and also in reserve. i do think they have enough quality on the counter attack to give england some problems because lets be fair- terry is looking very slow and one paced these days.

    england should win this game im sure they will. but i dont think it will be totally once sided. in recent friendly games every side the english come up against has made chances. it is not a solid defence. maybe it will be as the tourney progresses but its not at the moment. at the other end though england have so much power and strength, i cannot see any chance of usa keeping them out.
