It is interesting that these two very successful players has never met as opponents on tennis court. So this quarter final of the ATP tour in Washington will be their first mutual match. Winner will have to face in semi better from duel between Xavier Mallise and first seed,Tomas Berdych.
As for the match between Baghdatis and Verdasco,for me this is clear over. And this is definitely my best choice for today.
What is clear is that either of them does not play in best form. Verdassco, despite the ups and downs that he had lately,still holds among the Top 10 world players. At the moment he is 10th. What was characteristic of Verdasco in the last ten matches is that only twice he managed to win in straight sets. One of those two was here in Washington in last round against Ryan Sweeting 6-4,7-5. While in first round he beat Michael Berrer 4-6,7-5,7-6.
As for Baghdatis,of his big come back on tennis courts and breakthrough to 25th position,it seems that his form is again unstable. In his last four tournaments before Washington, Baghdatis only once managed to pass to the second round.
Baghdatis also had a very interesting matches in the first two rounds of this tournament. Against Horacio Zeballos 7-6,7-6 while in second round he beat Illya Marchenko 6-3,6-7,6-3.
So in today's quarter finals all points to one more match in three sets. Even if it does not happens, 22.5 games is enough to this match finish in over games.
